Hamedan International Airport is located 5 kilometers north of the city and is considered the oldest airport in the country. This airport is one of the oldest airports in Iran with an age of about 80 years. In 1964, the construction of the new airport project, located near the old airport, was studied and in 1349, the construction of the airport began. The project was completed in 1351. The airport is located about 8 km north-east of Hamedan, along the main road of Tehran with an area of about 250 hectares.
