Revolution in the aviation industry : pilots can see the back of their heads with this helmet .
According to Digiato : In a major breakthrough in the military aviation industry, Collins Aerospace has developed a revolutionary helmet for the F-35 Lightning 2 that gives the pilot "360-degree" visibility.
The Genesis III or Gen 3 HMDS helmet, which took almost a decade to build, is sold at a whopping price of $400,000.
The F-35 Lightning 2, owned by Lockheed Martin, is the most expensive military fighter aircraft ever produced at a price of $109 million per aircraft. This fighter uses advanced technologies such as stealth and a speed of more than Mach 1.6 (1975 km/h).
In addition to the main task of protecting the pilot's head, the Genesis III helmet also serves as the main display and weapons control system. This helmet has 6 cameras in different parts that combine their images and provide a complete 360-degree view for the pilot.
Also, this helmet continuously provides flight information and sensor data to the pilot. Pilots can identify and track friendly or enemy air and ground units just by looking at the targets through the Genesis 3 HMDS guidance system.
In addition, the Gen 3 HMDS helmet has built-in night vision with a 30 x 40 degree field of view, eliminating the need for separate night vision goggles.
